Short Hiatus

Hey readers,
As you can see, I’ve been on a short hiatus for a few weeks now. I’ll get back to blogging soon but for now I have to dance with the dark, twisted, melody they call life.
When I get back, I promise to post a lot more frequently as I have a lot of goals and hopes set for this blog.
Till then,
Farhan

Top 4! Who’s going to make the finals? (X Factor – Dec 14, 2011 – Live Shows #7)

Top 4! Everybody gets to sing 2 songs tonight, so let’s see how they all did.

Song 1: Pepsi Challenge Song – a song chosen by the viewers at home

Song 2: Self chosen – chosen by the singers and mentors

AMAZING SHOW TONIGHT!!! Put simply, Josh, Melanie and Chris clearly outshine Marcus and it is safe to say that those 3 will be making it to the finals.

X-Factor Top 5; Chris Rene sings an original song. Who will go home? (Live Shows #6 – Dec 7, 2011)

Top 5! Everybody gets to sing 2 songs tonight, so let’s see how they all did.

The first song that everybody sang is of the “dance” genre: take a song and then add a clubbing track over it. The second song was of the “save me song” genre: a passionate ballad which expresses all emotions.

The performances tonight were all incredible, so it’ll be really hard predicting the person going home tonight.

There really was no worst performance tonight, but my favourite performances of the night were all of the “Save Me” songs (especially Chris’), Rachel (Nothin’ On You), & Josh (Something).

Rant: Drew & Astro get cut (Dec 1)

So we say goodbye to Astro & Drew.
It’s sad to see such young talent leave so early, but it makes sense why they would be in the bottom and possibly leave the competition.

It’s easy to see why Astro was voted off: his genre, rap, has a very limited fan base and his performance last night really wasn’t that good because it didn’t at all feel like the original song. Even with his crazy fan base, any MJ lover would have hated that performance and wanted him to leave the competition. Bye Astro! I’m a fan but it’s time to say goodbye!

Drew hit the bottom because she had a terrible mentor, Simon Cowell. I don’t know why, but he kept holding her back each week with terrible song choices. Her best performances throughout the season were the ones where she did her own thing and not listen to Simon (remember Baby and Just a Dream?). She was voted off because she was getting boring with terrible songs picked by Simon and putting her in the bottom two would have been the perfect way to get her out of the slow-ballad shell and truly make her shine. I can guarantee to you that if they saved her she would have blown us away next week and would have possibly ended up winning the show. Paula and Nicole were just getting rid of her because they have a grudge against Simon Cowell; really really really stupid choice ladies. Marcus is gone next week because of his tiny fan base.

It’s a sad to see such young talent leave this competition, but I wish the best for these two kids. I think they both have the potential to be huge in the industry because they are both true artists.

Michael Jackson week!!!

This episode was awesome! We got to hear some really unique versions of the classic MJ songs, and most of the performances were just awesome to watch and listen to. A great blend of ballad-type and high energy-type songs tonight.

The best performances of the night go to Drew & Melanie Amaro

The worst performance of the night goes to Rachel Crow

Who’s going home on The X Factor’s Thankgiving Show? (In-Depth Prediction – Live Shows #5)

The 5th live show was super emotional, and since everyone was absolutely amazing, it’s going to be really tough making an accurate prediction of the bottom 3.

The best performances of the night go to Marcus Canty, Astro, LeRoy Bell, Chris Rene, & Josh Krajcik.

The worst performance of the night goes to Drew.

Like song mashups? Check out IAmTheCakeMaker!

This guy does some sick stuff. Never before have I heard such clean and well done mashups of songs that you would never think would go togther.

My favourite mashups of his are:

OMG & My Love (Usher and Justin Timberlake)

Check This Out: Sleepwell Darling & Dawn Defeo

Want to check out a collection of acoustic, unknown, “sloppy-written”, corny , but incredible love songs? Check out this project known as Sleepwell Darling.

I recently had the pleasure of falling in love with Sleepwell Darling’s album “Let Love Live”, and I’m sure you’ll love the high energy, unique, and lovable feel of the album. Especially the well-written pop song “Kinda, Sorta, Maybe Baby” . It’s a load of fun to listen to and sing along with because it’s just super catchy.

Who’s going home on The X Factor’s Rock Week? (In-Depth Prediction – Live Shows #4)

The X Factor’s Rock Week: Not so many rock performances as there were weak performances.

The 4th live show was pretty bland in comparison to last week; there were only 2 good performances (which were actually back to back), and everything else was just boring and not even real rock; disappointing. By the way I have to mention this: Steve Jones is a terrible host and should not come back next year.

The best performances of the night go to Astro & Josh

The worst performance of the night goes to Stacy Francis

Song Review: The One That Got Away by Katy Perry

I highly doubt Katy Perry needs an introduction, but here is one anyways:

Katy Perry is a multi-platinum selling pop-icon, who has released many hit singles such as “I Kissed a Girl”, “Hot n’ Cold”, “E.T”, “Teenage Dream” and more.

Her latest single is titled “The One That Got Away”, and it is one of her better singles, but… could it have been better?
